Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Recola app and website, operated by Recola Pty Ltd, an Australian company ("Recola", "we", "us"). By using Recola you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

The Recola app is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies alongside these terms. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app.

What Recola does

Recola lets you save shared social videos, analyses them using AI to extract structured information — recipes, places, outfits, products, songs, and more — and organises those extractions into a personal library. For outfits, products and decor, Recola provides outbound links to retailers so you can shop individual items.

Account registration

To use Recola you must create an account with a valid email address and password, or by signing in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials, for all activity under your account, for notifying us immediately of any unauthorised access, and for keeping your account details accurate.

When you create an account you are asked to confirm that you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy, and we keep a record of that acceptance and the version of each document it applied to.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Recola. By creating an account you represent that you meet this age requirement.

Subscription plans and billing

Recola requires an active subscription. Three plans are offered: Recola Weekly ($4.99 USD/week), Recola Monthly ($9.99 USD/month), and Recola Annual ($59.99 USD/year). Prices are shown and charged in your local currency at purchase.

Monthly and Annual plans may include a free trial for new subscribers. A free trial converts to a paid subscription unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store and renew automatically at the same price and for the same period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your device's App Store settings (Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions); cancelling takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep access until then. If we change a price, Apple will tell you in advance and ask for your agreement before the new price applies. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its refund policy; apart from your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and any other law that cannot be excluded, no refunds are provided for partial subscription periods.

Using Recola

You may use Recola for your own personal, lawful purposes. You are responsible for the videos and links you choose to save, and for ensuring that doing so does not infringe the rights of others or violate the terms of the platforms you save from. You must not save, upload or attempt to process unlawful content, pornographic or sexually explicit content, or content that exploits or endangers minors — we use automated safeguards to detect and reject such content, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that attempt to save it. You must not use Recola to save or process content you do not have the right to share.

If you see something in Recola that you believe is unlawful or harmful, or you want to report a problem with the service, email support@recola.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Your content

You retain ownership of the links and content you save. By saving content to Recola you grant us the limited licence necessary to process, analyse, and display it back to you within the service. We do not claim ownership of your saved content and do not share it with other users.

AI-extracted information

The structured data Recola extracts (ingredients, addresses, product names, and so on) is generated by AI and may not be complete or accurate. You should verify any information before relying on it — for example, checking allergens in a recipe or confirming a location's address before visiting. Recola is a tool to help you organise and revisit content, not a substitute for independent verification.

Intellectual property

The Recola app, its design, and any content we create are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute them without our permission.

Availability

We work to keep Recola available and reliable, but we provide it "as is" and without warranties, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. We are not liable for any loss arising from inaccurate AI extractions, service interruptions, or links to third-party retailers.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited (at our option) to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of re-supply.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using Recola at any time by cancelling your subscription and, if you wish, deleting your account in the app, which permanently deletes your library. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is used to save the content described above, or where the law requires it; where reasonable we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. If we close your account other than for breach, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, or we refund the unused part.

Third-party services

Recola relies on third-party services (AI analysis and cloud infrastructure providers, among others). Your use of Recola is also subject to those providers' terms to the extent they apply. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party services.

Changes

We may update these terms as Recola evolves, for example when we add features, change our providers or the law changes. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do, and for a change that reduces your rights or adds to your obligations we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you do not agree to a change you may cancel your subscription before it takes effect and you will not be charged again.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you live outside Australia you keep the benefit of any consumer protection law of your own country that cannot be excluded by agreement. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
